Graphics programmer

Level of experience: medior/senior level role.

Tovenaar is looking for an experienced graphics programmer to work on our upcoming title, BattleSage. You will be responsible for developing high performing shaders for all main platforms (PC/Xbox/PlayStation), with a big focus on interactive clouds. Applicants should have a preference for working in a creative, young and collaborative indie studio. Knowledge of and experience with Unreal Engine are a must, as is previous experience working in the industry.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for the duration of 6 months, with renewal options. We prefer on-site employment, but for this role it is not required. We also accept freelancers.

Responsibilities

    – Collaborate with the team to achieve the artistic vision for the game.

    – Write clean, readable, reliable and portable code.

    – Author new shaders and effects.

    – Analyze and improve performance and memory usage across all target platforms.

    – Write clear documentation about your work.

Requirements

    – Experience with the Unreal Engine render pipeline

    – Experience with DirectX, HLSL, and GPU programming.

    – 4+ years of industry experience developing for PC and consoles.

    – Proficiency in C/C++.

    – Strong communication skills (especially in case of remote employment)

    – Interest in the latest rendering technologies, techniques, hardware, and API’s.

    – Experience with multi-threaded programming.

    – Skilled at performance analysis, optimization, and debugging

    – Strong math skills

    – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering.

    – An avid gamer with a passion for making games and game technology.

Pluses

    – Ability to work at least 1 day/week on site in Ghent, Belgium.

Gameplay programmer

Level of experience: junior/medior level role.

We are looking for a gameplay programmer to work on our upcoming title, BattleSage. Applicants should have a preference for working in a creative, young and collaborative indie studio. Like the rest of our team, you will be actively involved in designing and shaping the end product by participating in playtests and brainstorms.

You will be responsible both for improving existing gameplay features and for creating new ones. These could be related to new enemies, puzzles, dialogues, quests… Knowledge of and experience with Unreal Engine are a must, as is previous experience working in the industry.

This is a full-time, on-site, fixed-term position for the duration of 6 months, with renewal options. We do also accept freelancers for this role.

    – 2+ years of industry experience developing games.

    – Proficiency in C/C++.

    – Skilled at performance analysis, optimization, and debugging

    – Strong math skills

    – An avid gamer with a passion for making games and game technology.

    – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering.

    – Ability to work on site in Ghent, Belgium.

    – Proven experience in a niche (AI, Shaders, Animation, Engine, ProcGen, NetCode, porting…)
