Quest Designer

Senior/Medior Quest Designer & Scripter (UE5) — Technical & Player-First

Level of experience: Senior or strong medior level role.

Period: Starting June 2026, 12 months

 

We are looking for a Quest Designer & Scripter to work on our upcoming title, BattleSage. Applicants should have a preference for working in a creative, young and collaborative indie studio.

You will design and integrate quests from ideation to implementation, evaluation and iteration. 

Previous working experience in the industry is a must.

 

This is an on-site, fixed-term contract / freelance position.

Responsibilities

– Work closely with the design and narrative team to conceptualize new quests within the vision of the project

– Work close with the level design and programming team to integrate these quests into the game using a combination of engine- and in-house scripting tools

– Always keep the player experience in mind

– Oversee, evaluate and iterate on new and existing quests

– Turn playtest findings and internal feedback into concrete, efficient improvements

– Debug and fix quest logic

– Evaluate and communicate about the integration pipeline

– Participate in design brainstorms and playtests

Requirements

– Strong communication skills

– A strong feel for onboarding, readability, affordance, and encounter pacing

– Understanding all parts of a good experience (mechanics, level design, goals, narrative, accessibility and gameplay systems)

– Experience working with UE5 and Blueprints

– Technical/Logical skills

– Affinity for open-world game mechanics

– Pro-active mindset

– 3+ years of working as a quest/game designer in the game industry

Pluses

– Experience in designing quests/mechanics for action-adventure/traversal-heavy/systemic gameplay in a (semi-)open world

– Experience in game QA

– 1 or more shipped titles

– Programming in C++

– Experience with using the FlowGraph plugin for UE

Medior Animator (UE5 / 3ds Max) — Gameplay & Cinematic

Level of experience: Medior level role.

Period: Starting December 2026, 14 months

 

We are looking for an animator to work on our upcoming title, BattleSage. Applicants should have a preference for working in a creative, young and collaborative indie studio. Like the rest of our team, you will be actively involved in designing and shaping the end product by participating in playtests and brainstorms.

You will take ownership over all animations in the game. These are related to the player character, enemies, bosses, NPCs, sequences and cutscenes.

Experience in making combat animations in action games is highly desired.

Previous working experience in the industry is a must.

 

This is a full-time fixed-term contract / freelance position.

We require a minimum on-site presence of 3 days per week

Responsibilities

– Work closely with the design, art and programming team to realise the intended vision

– Create and integrate game-ready animations that serve the gameplay

– Ensure gameplay animations are readable, impactful, juicy and telegraph their intent

– Create and integrate game-ready animations for cutscenes and level sequences

– Oversee, evaluate and iterate on the animation pipeline

– Participate in design brainstorms and playtests

Requirements

– Experience animating in 3DsMax, or able to adapt workflow to 3DsMax

– High attention to feel, readability, responsiveness and character in- and outside animations

– A keen eye for performance, staging, posing, timing and emotional quality

– Strong communication skills

– 2+ years of working as an animator in the game industry

Pluses

– Experience with rigging

– 1 or more shipped titles.

– Experience with the UE5 animation pipeline

– A passion for high intensity, fast-paced combat/movement games
